Dobbs, known for his hard-line views on immigration and trade, died Thursday

Dobbs was married to Debi Segura, a former CNN sports anchor, at the time of his death.

Lou Dobbs, the veteran TV news host and conservative commentator, died Thursday, his family announced. He was 79.

Dobbs, who formerly worked for CNN and Fox, had been running his own podcast called The Great America Show and hosting a show on local radio station WABC in New York.

Dobbs was known for his hard-line views on immigration and trade. He was a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump and frequently criticized Trump's opponents.

Dobbs was born in Childress, Texas, in 1945. He began his journalism career as a reporter for the El Paso Times. He joined CNN in 1980 and hosted the popular show "Lou Dobbs Tonight" for 27 years.

Dobbs left CNN in 2009 and joined Fox Business Network. He hosted the show "Lou Dobbs Tonight" on Fox for 11 years before leaving in 2021.

Dobbs is survived by his wife, Debi Segura, and their three children.
